Sometimes, we get a photo so striking┬áthat we have to share it in advance…like this, from our upcoming story, “Sleeping On Straw,” appearing in┬áthe March 2017 issue of The Furrow. In this stunning shot by contributor Joel Reichenberger, farmer Anton Furrer-Gisler pauses from harvesting hay on a steep hillside overlooking his farm near Gitchenen, Switzerland. Furrer-Gisler and other Swiss farmers participate in a program called Schlaf im Strohl, or “Sleeping in Straw,” which allows tourists to overnight in barns…thoroughly cleaned, of course…and to help out with chores around the farm. In return, visitors get room and board at a reasonable price…and views like this. Watch for our March issue, and learn more about sleeping in straw!
